General Chinese Course Registration and Placement Test

General Chinese courses are offered only for NTU's international students, and can be added only by NTU staff after students submit the registration sheets. Students who wish to take the course are required to register and take the placement test on the designated date and place(Bring Student ID Card or Admission Letter and a pen.)

New International Students who applied for General Chinese course please come to your registration time according to your NTU Student ID number (see the chart below). Students who have taken General/Enhancing Chinese courses for the first semester will be automatically enrolled in the second semester to next level. Please confirm your course selection result before the deadline of dropping course on the Course Selection System.

Students must bring:

1) Your Student ID Card or Admission Letter
2) A Pen

Those who have never taken Chinese may be opt-out of the placement test. However you are still required to come for registration. Your absence on that day will be considered as cancellation of enrollment, so it is imperative that you arrive on time. The placement test may take about one to one and a half hour after registration.

Students will:

1) Take a registration sheet(click and see the sample) from NTU staff and fill out the necessary information

2) Choose day class or evening class, decide whether to add Enhancing Chinese or not on the form

3) Take a written test (Students who are complete beginners can leave.)

4) Take an oral test

5) Leave and wait about one week to check the placement results on OIA website (News).

Make-up registration/ placement test

For those who cannot arrive in Taiwan by February 29, 2020, you shall notify the OIA ( and go to Chinese Language Division (CLD) with your NTU admission letter and passport for the registration and make-up placement test at the following prescribed time.

Venue: Chinese Language Division (CLD) 文學院語文中心 (Language Building)

Time: 13:00-13:30, March 4, 2020

The make-up placement test is only offered to those who arrive in Taiwan later than the prescribed registration day (February 29). If you miss the registration day and placement test for other reasons, no make-up registration and make-up test are allowed and you will not be able to attend the General Chinese Course and Enhancing Course.
